Fotografska razstava portretov \u017eensk Ju\u017ene Afrike ujete za hip vsem danega \u017eivljenja \u2013 svobodnega, enakopravnega, mo\u010dnega in \u0161e mo\u010dnej\u0161ega. Podro\u010dje, ki ga avtorica raziskuje ima korenine lastnega notranjega sveta z do\u017eivljanjem daljnega, z nehvale\u017ene pozicije evrocentri\u010dnosti, a nujnim pogledom k svetovnosti. Portreti so lo\u010deni od tega sveta, \u010drno-beli a popolnoma enaki tistim, ki ne vidijo barv.<\/p>\n

Kot poseben in simboli\u010den fotografski medij si je avtorica izbrala bomba\u017e, fotografije so tako \u0161e bolj organske in naravne. Bomba\u017ena tkanina na katerih so tiskane fotografije so spomini zasu\u017enjenih polj. Barva njihovega sodobnega \u017eivljenja je skupaj v tem spominu \u0161e vedno \u010drno (kot ko\u017ea) – bela (kot bomba\u017e). Sodobnost in preteklost se imata v razstavljenih fotografijah mo\u017enost najti v uporu mo\u010dnih \u017eensk z \u017eeljo po svetlenju vseh barv \u017eivljenja. Strastnost \u017eivljenja pod ekvatorjem, njihovo do\u017eivljanje sveta je namre\u010d popolnoma druga\u010dno od na\u0161ega, z vidika nenehnega boja in vzpostavljanja pravic.<\/p>\n

Njihov spomin je melanin, barva pokornosti, ki naj bi raje in z nujo v dana\u0161njem svetu bila ponosna, vidna. V lu\u010di okoli\u0161\u010din na\u0161ega vsakdana in sveta v uporu \u017eensk in podob, ki smo jim pri\u010da \u2013 od dvignjenih pesti do stri\u017eenja las. Kako bomo do\u017eivljali svoje spomine, \u010de pa jih z nenehnim strinjanjem in konsenzi niti ne ustvarjamo. Tja\u0161ina zgodba portretov tistega sveta vedno in znova opominja na spomine preteklosti ter opozarja, prevpra\u0161uje naslednje \u2013 kje si \u010dlovek, \u010de svojega bli\u017enjega ne prepozna\u0161 v barvah svojega spomina?<\/p>\n

MELANIN IS A MEMORY \/ MELANIN KE MOHOPOLO<\/strong><\/p>\n

A photography exhibition that features portraits of South African women, capturing a moment in their free, equal, strong, and stronger lives. The subject explored by the author has its roots in her own inner world, in experiencing remoteness, from an ungrateful Eurocentric position but nevertheless adopting a necessary worldly view. The portraits are disassociated from this world black-and-white, yet simultaneously exactly the same when viewed by the colourblind.<\/p>\n

The artist has opted for a unique and symbolic photographic medium \u2013 cotton \u2013 making the photographs even more organic and natural. The cotton fabric on which the photographs are printed hearken back to slave plantations. In this memory, the colour of their contemporary life remains both black (like skin) and white (like cotton). The present and the past have the ability to come together in the showcased photographs as the rebellion of strong women wishing to lighten all of life\u2019s colours. The passion of life under the Equator and their perception of the world is completely different from ours in terms of their constant struggle and fight for their rights.<\/p>\n

Their memory is melanin, the colour of submission, which should and needs to be visible and displayed with pride in today\u2019s world \u2013 in light of our everyday, global circumstances seen in the rebellion of women and images, from raised fists to cutting their hair short. How can we experience our memories when we don\u2019t even create any by constantly acquiescing and agreeing to consensus? Tja\u0161a\u2019s story, recounted through portraits from that other world, continues to draw attention to past memories, alerting to and examining the following question \u2013 Can you truly call yourself human if you fail to recognise your loved one in the colours of your memory?<\/p>\n

Tja\u0161a Gnezda<\/strong> se je po kon\u010danem \u0161tudiju komunikologije \u2013 medijske in komunikacijske \u0161tudije \u2013 za\u010dela izpopolnjevati na podro\u010dju vizualne umetnosti s te\u010dajem grafi\u010dnih tehnik v Mednarodnem grafi\u010dnem \u00a0likovnem centru Ljubljana in s profesionalnim programom modne \u00a0fotografije na Scuola di Fotografia Professionale e Multimedia v Firenzah. Podro\u010dje video produkcije je nadgradila \u0161e na filmski rezidenci v Avstriji na Innsbruck Film Campusu, video ter fotografski delavnici na umetni\u0161ki \u00a0rezidenci Victoria Yards v Johannesburgu ter na ORMS Cape Town School of Photography, v Ju\u017eni Afriki.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After Tja\u0161a Gnezda<\/strong> graduated from university, where she read Media and \u00a0Communication Studies, she went on to study visual art by taking a \u00a0course in graphic techniques at the International Centre of Graphic \u00a0Arts in Ljubljana. She likewise attended a professional fashion \u00a0photography course at the Scuola di Fotografia Professionale e \u00a0Multimedia in Florence, Italy. She then went on to further expand her \u00a0knowledge of video production by participating in a film residency at \u00a0the Innsbruck Film Campus in Austria, video and photography workshop \u00a0at Victoria Yards art residency in Johannesburg and at ORMS Cape Town \u00a0School of Photography in South Africa.<\/p>\n
