11. Festival fotografije Maribor 2026
Pogovor z ustvarjalcem: »Kako nastaja fotografski projekt?«
Kdaj posamezne fotografije prenehajo biti le posamezni posnetki in začnejo tvoriti zgodbo? Zoran Kolarić, avtor razstave »VMES«, bo v pogovoru z Rudijem Uranom spregovoril o nastajanju fotografskega projekta, prepoznavanju teme, vračanju na ista mesta, izboru in povezovanju fotografij ter o trenutku, ko serija začne živeti kot samostojna celota. Pogovor bo izhajal tudi iz njegovega projekta »VMES«, ki raziskuje odnos med figuro in prostorom.
Pogovor bo potekal v okviru 11. FESTIVALA FOTOGRAFIJE MARIBOR 2026, eno uro pred odprtjem razstave »VMES« v galeriji RRRudolf na Lentu.
Projekcija filma »Fotograf«
Dokumentarni film FOTOGRAF razkriva izjemno zgodbo ljubiteljskega fotografa Petra Nagliča, ki je v prvi polovici 20. stoletja posnel več kot 10.000 fotografij. Naglič je, v na videz vsakdanjih prizorih, prepoznaval vznemirljive atrakcije in jih fotografiral kot foto-zgodbe, še pred nastankom sodobne fotoreportaže. Fotografije je na hrbtni strani opremljal s krajevnimi oznakami, datumi in opisi motivov ter jih s tem postavljal v kontekst časa in prostora. Peter Naglič je tako na svojih fotografijah ujel rojstvo sodobne slovenske identitete.
S pomočjo aplikacij umetne inteligence smo z ustvarjalci britanskega studia Untold Garden izbrane Nagličeve fotografije tudi oživili in tako v dokumentarcu ustvarili slovenske zgodovinske »filmske posnetke«, ki pa niso bili nikoli zares posneti.
Po projekciji sledi pogovor z režiserjem Mihom Čelarjem.
Projekcija filma je v sodelovanju z 15. Mednarodnim festivalom dokumentarnega filma DOKUDOC.

Projekcija dokumentarnega filma o Mariborskem krogu
Mariborski krog je v sedemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja pomembno zaznamoval razvoj slovenske fotografije. O fenomenu petnajsterice mariborskih fotografov, njihovi ustvarjalnosti in izjemni svobodi pripoveduje dokumentarni film, ki ga je leta 2019 posnel fotograf Branimir Ritonja.
Po projekciji bo sledila razprava o Mariborskem krogu, njegovem času, pomenu in vplivu na sodobno fotografijo.
Vabljeni na filmski večer, ki odpira pogled v eno najpomembnejših poglavij mariborske in slovenske fotografske zgodovine.
Conversation with the Artist: »How Does a Photographic Project Come Into Being?«
When do individual photographs stop being merely individual images and begin to form a story? Zoran Kolarić, author of the exhibition “In Between”, will talk with Rudi Uran about the development of a photographic project, recognising a theme, returning to the same places, selecting and connecting photographs, and the moment when a series begins to exist as an independent whole. The conversation will also draw on his project “In Between”, which explores the relationship between the figure and space.
The conversation will take place as part of the 11th MARIBOR PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL 2026, one hour before the opening of the “VMES” exhibition at RRRudolf Gallery in Lent.
Film Screening: »The Photographer«
The documentary film FOTOGRAF reveals the extraordinary story of amateur photographer Peter Naglič, who took more than 10,000 photographs during the first half of the 20th century. In seemingly everyday scenes, Naglič recognised compelling subjects and photographed them as visual stories, long before the emergence of modern photojournalism. On the reverse side of his photographs, he recorded locations, dates and descriptions of the subjects, thereby placing them within the context of time and place. Through his photographs, Peter Naglič captured the birth of modern Slovenian identity.
With the help of artificial intelligence applications and in collaboration with the creators of the British studio Untold Garden, we also brought selected photographs by Naglič to life, creating Slovenian historical “film footage” for the documentary that, in reality, had never been filmed.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Miha Čelar.
The film screening is presented in collaboration with the 15th International Documentary Film Festival DOKUDOC.

Screening of a Documentary Film about the Maribor Circle
In the 1970s, the Maribor Circle played an important role in shaping the development of Slovenian photography. A documentary film about the phenomenon, history and creative freedom of the group of fifteen Maribor photographers was made in 2019 by renowned photographer Branimir Ritonja.
The film presents the work of the Maribor Circle and its minimalist, modern approach, which challenged established ideas and changed the course of Slovenian photography.
The screening will be followed by a discussion about the Maribor Circle, its time, significance and influence on contemporary photography.
